It's official. Spring has become my favorite season, with Fall in close second. It makes sense, they're both transitory seasons, there's an electricity of change in the air, and though I've always been obsessed with Autumn (um, Halloween!), the past couple of years have taught me to appreciate the absolute magic of Spring.

Last year my family and I had the pleasure of spending two weeks exploring the Northern California coast. I had never experienced such beauty... from Monterey Bay to Muir Beach and everywhere in between, there's nothing like Spring in California. The succulent blooms alone can charge my happy place battery...

When we returned to Colorado I couldn't wait to get into the dye studio. I put together a small grouping of some of my favorite treasures from our travels and came up with a seven-color mini collection of milky pastels and deep, moody blues and greens. I named the collection Washed Out, because of it's beachy vibes but also after one of my favorite bands (you may know them from the Portlandia intro).

My friend Crystal took 5 of the 7 colors in mini-skeins and knit up this Antarktis shawl by Janina Kallio available on Ravelry. She used Half Shell, Abalone, Pearl, Sea Glass and Tidal Pool.

This past Summer we were lucky enough to travel to the Pacific Northwest, a place that was in my heart long before I got to see it in person. I had been to Seattle and Northern Washington, but this time we got to venture south.

We stopped in Astoria and I got to see the Goonies town from my childhood dreams, we accidentally found Haystack Rock, and I literally cried while driving through the Tillamook State Forest, the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

It seems like all of our family trips revolve around nature, and I've never meet a forest that I didn't love. The Woodsies are inspired by the amazing trails we have gotten to enjoy and I hope you love them as much as I do!

This work of art/shawl was designed by my friend Julia of @deunynknits and is being test knit for release in early April.  Available in three sizes and knit using DK, the pattern mixes brioche, simple lace, and other textured stitches, making it totally reversible and 100% awesome.

Here we have the original in a size Large knit using Knerd String DK in Circle in the Sand, Dandy Lion, Castlewood Canyon and Inlet Trail.
